WEEK 4
WEEK 4
Displacement maps and hybrid animals
MR MARTIN
In week 4 there was no lecture but Mr martin gave us a tutorial on how to use displacement maps
And which pictures work well with it and which pictures don't
Also a small breif on project 1 again
Task
We were given the task as project 1 , which was to create our own hybrid animal using the tutorial techniques
Process 1
Starting of i began with choosing a skin and an animal , keeping in mind the fact if it would work
Animal
Skin
I chose a bat because of the whole covid 19 thing and the skin to give it a scary theme
process 2
After finalizing the animal i started with displacement map and editing , the first step to a displacement map was to turn the image into black and white and save it as a photoshop file
like so , also add some gaussian blur
Process 3
After saving the displacement file , we reopen the animal image and make different layers if needed , along with that we add the skin on top of the image till where it covers the whole animal
something like this
After setting the skin and resizing , i converted the image to smart object and i added the displacement map
The final step after this was to add some feathering and adjustments layers
outcome
Feedback

Feedback
- use more feathering
- maybe try a new animal
- use more common known skins
EXPOSURE EDITING
Mr fauzi
In this week mr fauzi gave us another short breif about exposure editing and along with that , he provided us with a few more pictures so we can work more on our composition skills.
Task
We had to come up with more composition ideas , these weeks were not very stressed on tutorials as we were working on our projects
Process 1/Composition 1
these compositions i kept it fairly simple because i was just exploring and understanding how i can mix different tools and blending modes
together
process 2 / composition 2
just like before only explorations
Feedback and consultation
- use a reference
- note how the colours work
- second composition can be improved and used
