WEEK 3
Recolouring b/w photos in photoshop, brush tools
MR MARTIN
In week 3 mr martin's lecture contained a bit of detail about how or why we could need to recolour certain pictures along with how it could be done
After lecture was a short tutorial in which mr martin showed us the process of recolouring photoshop
Recolouring exercise
I couldn't make it to the class that day so i didn't attempt the exercise but i reviewed the recorded lecture and attempted the task given in relation to the exercise
Task
The task for the week was
- choose a black and white picture of either our own choice or the provided picture by mr martin
- recolour it using photoshop
Process 1
I chose my own picture for recolouring just because i could explore different ideas
the picture i chose was
i chose this because i usually found myself working with portraits a lot and that was what most of my designs and style were based on
Process 2
After choosing i opened the file in photoshop , and just roughly made a mind map of what i could recolour
Process 3
After the rough layering out i started with the main colour which was the skin i used different brush tools till i could get a good brush which i thought could easily be used in corners and etc
After covering most of the skin i changed the layer to multiply mode and slightly adjusted the opacity also
Process 4
I then repeated the process for all layers
I also used some other blending modes such as Overlay and Hard light
Process 5
After all the colouring and blending i added one layer of gaussian blur over it and handed for submission
Final Outcome
Feedback
- Is already good enough no need to make changes
- Start practicing next exercise
Intro to Photoshop 2
Double Exposure Effect, Blending mode, Working with mask
Mr Fauzi
In this week mr fauzi gave us a lecture on what double exposure means , and why it can be used
Along with where you can use it and why it is a very important but simple thing
After the lecture we were given a photoshop tutorial on how to create a double exposure effect using
- Masking layer
- Blending modes
- How to use negative spaces
Also a breif on project 1
Task
For the task we were given a set of picture which we had to use to make our own compositions using the different techniques mentioned above
Given pictures
Process 1 / composition 1
This composition i used masking layer and repetition , along with the overlay and multiply blending modes
- planes - design elements
- mountains- background
- leaves- Foreground
Process 2 / composition 2
In this composition i used the same blending modes but also some othjer ones like linear burn for the people and i kept the building as my main feature
Process 3/ composition 3
This composition i used a different approach and modes that darken the picture , such vivid light and my main feature was the biggest shark
Feedback and consultation
- Good composition , use design elements , foreground and backgroudn arrangement
- But lacks a main feature
- Continue with second one , most better in the three
