LECTURES
letterforms and understanding letters
WEEK 5
From week 5 till week 7 we were given time to work on our first project , the briefing was given in week 5
Along with the submission of our project 1 we were also given a lecture in which Ms vinod told us about how different type families and their letters differ , we were shown how to dissect letters and analyse them to observe how different letter forms are but seem flat while looking at them .
WEEK 6
This week we were given feedback to improve our work.

we learned how dissecting and analysing letters show the different type fonts , san serif and serif
PROJECT 1
INSTRUCTIONS
The beginning of project one we were given an article and were instructed to make three text format layouts
I used my own text because of absence
CONTENT OF TEXT
since i used my own text this a summary of the text , i typed it out myself on personal and friend experiences the main header YOU DONT WANT TO LIVE MY LIFE well is pretty self explanatory and i emphasised the do'nt , the sub heading THE LIFE THAT NEVER ENDS is in the context of how life revolves around in a circle for some people , which all i related to the text which is all an autobiography and experiences of a drug addict

The three layouts that i have done
I used grid systems in indesign to get the layouts after which i started adding text

Layout 2

I forgot to document the grid systems i'm definitely losing marks there
First consultation Feedback
MR Vinod pointed out that i was using a wrong type font and that i should use a different grid system , and a lot more like leading and kerning needed to be more done

Adjustments to design
After a bit of experimentation and mister vinods feedback i changed the text formatting but i couldn't do the best i could
fig 1.4 final adjustments and outcome |
I kept this design as my final design because of the Arrangment of the grids but i would probably flow the whole text through

FINAL OUTCOME
FEEDBACK
Week 5:
No feedback
General Feedback:- Ragging needs to be improved
Specific feedback:
-Text looks like it has an idea
-use a 10pt font type for the text
-to allign the text shift the whole header on one page and flow the text all the way through
-Use 3 columns for lauyout
-Improve ragging
-Flip the main header lines because eyes read from left to right
REFLECTIONS
In all honesty i literally never thought text and letter and things just as font types and alignments require a pretty skilled understanding , I definitely look at signs boards and other forms of text in a very appreciative manner
FURTHER READINGS
even though it says publishing it really showed a lot of different layouts and how they can be used , why they can be used and how layouts should work to properly justify typography elements
